Series Options: 1 to 5 Aligners
Clear Image Aligners can be made for either arch or for both upper and lower on the same patient. Depending on your case needs and the amount of tooth movement required, Specialty can fabricate as few as 1,2 or 3 aligners for either arch, with up to six anterior teeth repositioned. On cases requiring more significant tooth movement, we offer our Series 4 and 5 aligners. Series 4 and Series 5 aligners include the appropriate number of appliances for one or both arches with the anterior (cuspid through cuspid) teeth reset as needed throughout the series.
We recommend always sending upper and lower models/impressions even if movement is requested on one arch only, as we can check for anterior interferences as the teeth are repositioned.
Types of Tooth Movement
Anterior tooth movement that responds well to this therapy includes: lingual/labial repositioning, rotations, slight mesial/distal shifting and moderate torque changes. Clear Image Aligners from Specialty are generally limited to .5mm per tooth per appliance however each clinician may prescribe custom tooth movements to be built into each aligner, including over-corrections.
Refinement & Continuation of Treatment Aligners
There is a limit to the amount of tooth movement we introduce into each appliance. On some cases, the Series of appliances chosen may not produce the ideal result based on the total amount of tooth movement required. For these patients, we offer a refinement appliance which is designed to move the teeth.
